Here’s my attempt at a Seize the Day and/or Survive the Day Poem:

“carpe diem (&/or bust)”

I always think I’ll be the best
before I find I rue the day
because everything is a mess.
I always think I’ll be the best
until I’m put against the test
& have to scratch & claw a way.
I always think I’ll be the best
before I find I rue the day.
