2023 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 5

For today’s prompt, write a book-based poem. The poem could be focused on the actual story of a book or be written from the perspective of a character. Or any other interpretation you can devise.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Book-Based Poem:

“The Little Prince”

He asked me to draw him a sheep;
then, he told me about his flower
who he loved and who was so weak.
He asked me to draw him a sheep
before a snake put him to sleep
as he fell in the final hour
and flew away with his small sheep
who I hope will not harm his flower.

(Note on today’s poem: I wrote a triolet. If you’re interested, find a whole list of poetic forms.)
