2024 April PAD Challenge: Day 11

Wow! This month is just flying by.

For today’s prompt, write a memory poem. The poem could conjure up an actual memory that you have from your childhood, or last week, or earlier this morning. Or the memory could be made up. Or the memory is just a starting point for a completely different poem. Your memories, your poems.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Later this month, be sure to check out the 3rd annual Writer’s Digest Poetry Writing Virtual Conference with four great presentations put on by award-winning poets covering a variety of topics, including how to put together poetry collections and bring fresh insight to familiar ideas.

Here’s my attempt at a Memory Poem:

“Variations on a Digital Clock”

Even now
when the digital numbers
don’t light up
it tells me the time
reminds me of moments
I can’t ever forget
stored away in a box
a memento
of a childhood
that time counted down.
