2024 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 17

For today’s prompt, write a craving poem. Even if some of us won’t admit it, we all crave something (and maybe lots of somethings), whether that’s fame, fortune, admiration, more time in the day, more sleep at night, fewer commercials, and so on. Think about cravings and write your poem, whether the cravings are yours or not.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Craving Poem:

“hibernation mode,” by Robert Lee Brewer

don’t take me to the groceries
as the temps begin to go down.
listen: with these plunging degrees,
don’t take me to the groceries,
because i want to eat and eat
and find a nice place to lay down.
keep me away from groceries
as the temps begin to go down.
