2024 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 23

For today’s prompt, write a wanted poem. Most (maybe all) people want to be wanted in one way or another. But there are also those Western “Wanted: Dead or Alive” posters, “help wanted” signs, and other types of wanting. For this prompt, write a poem about being the wanter, wantee, or wanting.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Wanted Poem:

“needs,” by Robert Lee Brewer

it’s good to feel wanted
but needed is better

wanted’s a stylish hat
needed is a sweater

that blocks out winter’s cold
while the hat’s in fashion

and looking very bold
though it has no passion

for keeping someone warm
in the day and the night

to be needed is great
but wanted is alright
