2023 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 24

For today’s prompt, take the phrase “Home (blank),” replace the blank with a new word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Possible titles might include: “Home for the Holidays,” “Home Run,” “Home Body,” and/or “Home Is Where the Heart Is.”

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Home Blank Poem:

“Home Security System”

We begin with Lego on the floor
and a small squadron of felines
prowling about for somewhere
to sneak a quick cat nap or two
purring into the soft corners of
a sofa and anyway nobody wants
to comb through our elaborate
collection of poetry collections
strewn throughout our domicile
domesticated as I already related
by a flurry of purring fur babies.
