Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 681
Before we get into today’s prompt, I just wanted to give a reminder to anyone who participated in November’s Poem-A-Day Chapbook Challenge that chapbooks are due January 15, 2024. Guidelines here.
For this week’s prompt, write an “of course” poem. For me, an “of course” poem is one that is either proceeded by the phrase “of course” or would be followed by an “of course” either by the poet or the reader. Abstract? Vague? Of course, it is. And, of course, you can create your own interpretation of what an “of course” poem might be.
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at an Of Course Poem:
“i forgot an umbrella,” by Robert Lee Brewer
& the rain
like a predator
pounced all over me
& the rest of the earth
making round puddles
my feet somehow found
& it was actually nice
like when i was young
& off on a run
like the flash
looking to splash
