Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 669

For this week’s prompt, write a stirring poem. Your concept of stirring could be like stirring ingredients in a bowl, or it could be a stirring in your soul. Of course, you could also write a poem about the lack of stirring, like in an abandoned house (or my brain on most Friday afternoons).

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Stirring Poem:

“Rise and Shine,” by Robert Lee Brewer

Most mornings, I admit,
I am the first to stir,
but it’s not to show off
or have you call me, “Sir.”

Rather, I must declare,
I find this time appeals
to my sense of silence
and introverted feels.

Though often, I confess,
it may seem almost worst,
my sleepy eyes are worth
the gift of waking first.
